Author’s Notes
A good acquaintance of mine has started giving her community writing prompts. I like the prompts that she’s given us so far so I’m creating a short story category to post my responses to her prompts. If you’d like to check out her wonderful community then here you go!
In any case, I think this is how I will be formatting short story posts that I make. An image of the writing prompts and maybe some optional author’s notes. Now without further ado, here is the first short story!
Story
‘I was never alone to begin with.’ From the day I was born into this universe was the day that I “belonged.”I knew this and I thought that I understood the concept perfectly fine. But who could have ever guessed that this concept is literal?
I used to love to sleep, it’s the best way to unwind after a long day of action after all. Nowadays however, I dread the thought of sleep. My perception of ‘reality’ and ‘dream’ breaks apart at the folds as I drift into sleep.
I start to hear soft whispers informing me of their presence. And even after all this time I am still unable to understand..I need to find out, are these figures lurking within the shadows of my room…or within the shadows of my mind? I can’t, for the life of me, figure out which outcome would be worse…
But it doesn’t matter, I need to find out, no matter the cost. I’ve been practicing meditation, astral projection, and lucid dreaming for this exact purpose. And I’m ready to discover whatever it is that has been terrorizing me for these past few years….
